Counselor Information

Staff at Camp Oneka

We are currently accepting applications for counselors for the 2010 camp season. We prefer to hire counselors who are 21 years of age, but all counselors must be 18 years of age or a high school graduate. All our counselors are program specialists and live in a cabin or tent with campers. We are interested in enthusiastic individuals who have some prior experience working with children, and who are eager to teach, learn, and most importantly, serve as role models for our campers.

Program areas include:

  • Swimming – teaching swim lessons and lifeguarding for free swims. Lifeguard certification required.
  • Sailing, Canoeing, Kayaking, Waterskiing – teaching these activities. Lifeguard certification required.
  • Sports – teaching skills and sportsmanship in field hockey, soccer, softball, archery, tennis, volleyball, climbing, and other sports.
  • Arts and Crafts – teaching jewelry making, beadwork, pottery, sculpture, drawing and painting, other crafts.
  • Theater and Music – directing plays and musicals, providing piano/keyboard accompaniment for plays and singing.
  • Ecology and Campcraft – fostering interest in nature and outdoor skills. Teaching ecology and campcraft skills.
